Toners: What are they, and why do you need it?

Toners have many benefits, and are an important part of your skin care routine. Here are 5 good reasons to add a toner to your daily skin care regiment.

  • Act as a Humectant- they help bind moisture to your skin, keeping skin moist and fresh.
  • Restores skin pH balance- cleanser can be high in alkaline and put your skin pH out of whack.  Skin has to work extra hard to get back to normal. Toners can help bring the pH balance back much faster and easier.
  • Use it during the day- toner can be spritzed on your skin throughout the day to refresh and revitalize your skins appearance.
  • It acts as a layer of protection- the toner helps to close pores which helps keep impurities and everyday contaminants out of the skin. It can also help remove the chlorine and minerals left behind on your skin from tap water.
  • Helps with ingrown hairs- If your toner contains glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, or salicylic acid, it can help to prevent ingrown hairs and clogged pores. It helps to dissolve oils, promote cell turnover, and keep the skin smooth.
Cleanse your face once (or twice if you are oily) and follow up with your toner.  It can be applied with a cotton round or spritzed on the skin with a small spray bottle.

Skin Script has:

Why are these products called "Rare"?

When talking to our guest about Hale & Hush skin care products, we sometimes get this question: "Why are the Rare Mandelic, Rare Retinol, and Race C Serum called "Rare"?  Lets see if this explanation helps. All three are specially made for sensitive skin. The type of vitamin C used is unique as it also helps with the appearance of pore size. The rare retinal serum uses retinaldehyde which works better on sensitive skin than the other forms of vitamin A, and also helps with glycation. (Glycation is a major cause of cellular and molecular damage that occurs with aging. It is a chemical process where a sugar molecule attaches to a protein or lipid. This contributes to wrinkles, discoloration, and loss of firmness). The mandelic used is 8% mandelic with a mixture of hyaluronic, vitamin C, enzymes and lactic to not cause any irritation on sensitive skin like other mandelic serums may cause. Professional Skin Care Academy carries a complete line of the Hale & Hush pr...
