Do you know your skin type?

Before your can start a skin care routine you need to know your skin type.  Look in the mirror (not the magnified side) and see if you can detect pores. Are they large like the top picture or small like the picture on the bottom?

Then notice how your skin feels. Does it feel greasy or tight or maybe even tingles a little?
  • Combination Skin: you will see larger pores on the forehead, nose and maybe even the chin. This is the T-Zone. You will see smaller pores on the cheeks. The T-Zone will feel greasy while the cheeks will feel tight.
  • Sensitive Skin: pores will most likely be medium to small, and your skin might be itchy, dry, patchy or even sting when applying products.
  • Normal Skin: skin feels even and balanced, not to dry or to oily. Pores are even across face.
  • Oily Skin: you will see larger pores all over the face, and it will feel greasy and look shiny.
  • Dry Skin: you will have small to medium pores and the skin feels tight and dry. Might even be a little flaky.
Watch your skin and see how it is reacting.  The next blog will talk about the best type cleanser for your specific skin type.

Why are these products called "Rare"?

When talking to our guest about Hale & Hush skin care products, we sometimes get this question: "Why are the Rare Mandelic, Rare Retinol, and Race C Serum called "Rare"?  Lets see if this explanation helps. All three are specially made for sensitive skin. The type of vitamin C used is unique as it also helps with the appearance of pore size. The rare retinal serum uses retinaldehyde which works better on sensitive skin than the other forms of vitamin A, and also helps with glycation. (Glycation is a major cause of cellular and molecular damage that occurs with aging. It is a chemical process where a sugar molecule attaches to a protein or lipid. This contributes to wrinkles, discoloration, and loss of firmness). The mandelic used is 8% mandelic with a mixture of hyaluronic, vitamin C, enzymes and lactic to not cause any irritation on sensitive skin like other mandelic serums may cause. Professional Skin Care Academy carries a complete line of the Hale & Hush pr...
